Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd. was established with an investment
of China National Service Corporation for Chinese Personnel Working
Abroad. It specializes in manufacturing high quality steel wires
and steel-wire ropes. The registered capital is RMB 1,821,000. Approved
by Chinese government, the company has license to import and export
by itself. Together with CNSC China Foreign Service Corporation,
its shareholding company, Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd invested
and set up the Alexander Steel-Wire Rope Plant with a registered
capital of one million US dollars.
The main business scope of Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd.
is: to produce and sell the steel wires and steel-wire ropes used
for universal or special purposes; to export its products and complete
sets of equipments with relevant technologies; to import the raw
materials and auxiliaries, mechanical equipments, instruments and
apparatus, spare parts for repair and technologies; to manage with
joint investment and to produce by means of joint venture project;
to operate the business of the ¡°Three supplies for processing and
one compensation¡± known as ¡°processing of supplied raw materials,
processing according to the supplied samples and assembling of the
supplied parts as well as the compensation trade¡±.
The headquarters of Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd. is located
in Xishan Economic Development Zone, which is 10 km away from the
downtown area of Wuxi city and about 1 km from ¡°Shanghai- ¨C Nanjing
freeway¡±. The major site of production is at No. 1 Liupan Rd., Donghu
Tangpan City£¬Xishan, covering a total land of 170,000 square meters
with a building area of 37,000 square meters. It is equipped with
three hot-treatment production lines, four hot-coating and hot zinc-coating
production lines as well as over 350 sets of production machines.
The annual production of various metal products amounts to 10,000
tons. Its products of total 15 series and over 300 specifications
are widely used in automobiles and motorbikes, elevators, cranes,
tower hangers, transportation of adhesive tapes, lifting industry,
shipping, aircraft cables, high building construction, oil industry,
mines, bridges, ports and harbors, sea fishery, telecommunication
and fiber optical cables, sport equipments, instruments and apparatus
and chemical industry, etc.
Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd. has 750 employees including
nearly 100 manufacturing and technical professionals. The employees
are certified at the levels of university, junior college or special
secondary school. Its experts and technicians are qualified for
elementary, intermediate or high professional titles.
Over the years, Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd. has gained
various certificates and awards. In 1991, the company first developed
the fiber optical cables with galvanized rotating ropes. Instead
of being imported from Japan as before, these products have been
used by the Japanese Alkatel Optical Cable Ltd. for many years and
gained a good reputation. The company has kept the record of ¡°100%
qualified products¡± from the sample tests and supervisions organized
by national or provincial quality inspection departments in the
past decade since 1993. Its main products won the awards of ¡°excellent
technological results¡± and ¡°famous products¡± at national, provincial
and municipal levels. In 1995, Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd.
was approved by the State Economic and Trade Commission to be an
export enterprise of machinery and electronic products by itself.
In December of the same year, it gained the certificates of RAN
of France awarded by BVQI international Authentication Company.
Thanks to success in a comprehensive examination of CSQA quality
inspection, it got the certificate of ISO9002. From then on for
three successive years, Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd. passed
all the re-examinations at one time. In March of 2001, it was crowned
as one of the top ten enterprises without complaints about the products
and services in an investigation report of ¡°Market edition of People¡¯s
Daily¡± released after the survey among clients of aircraft cables
on ¡°March 15th- Consumer Right Protection Day¡±. In August of 2001,
it gained ISO 9001-2000 certificates issued and awarded by the USA
and the UK. In March of 2002, the steel-wire ropes for electric
auto window regulators passed the tests of the Scientific and Technological
Foundation of the Shanghai Automobile Group and were selected for
some models of cars made by the Shanghai General Motors as substitutes
of the imported ropes. In January of 2003, it passed the re-examination
for certificate of measurement guarantee issued by the Inspection
Bureau of Jiangsu Province and renewed the certificate. Meanwhile,
with approval of China Quality Inspection Bureau, it renewed ¡°National
Industrial Products Manufacturing License¡± for 5 series of steel
wire ropes. In January of 2004, it was awarded API certificate of
quality authentication issued by the USA Petroleum Association.
Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd has an advanced technology in
production and complete set of testing instruments and apparatus
to guarantee a reliable quality control on the physical characteristics
of the steel wires and steel-wire ropes such as corrosion-resistance
performance, drawing force of rope fracture, exhausting performance,
coefficient elongation and elastic performance. The computer controls
the key processes in production. Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co.,
Ltd always lays emphasis on the technological research, development
of new products and application of new technology. It has several
patented know-how and technologies. In recent years, it develops
and produces the push-and ¨Cdraw cables, the steel-wire ropes used
for the electric auto window regulators, steel-wire ropes for high-speed
elevators, steel ropes for special purposes, stainless steel ¨Cwire
ropes and steel-wire ropes used in the military industry to meet
different needs of its clients.
Wuxi Universal Steel Rope Co., Ltd exports its products to more
than 20 countries and regions including the USA, Canada, Europe,
the Middle East, South-east Asia, etc. It also explores the African
market. The business for exports of 2003 is 2,100 tons amounting
up to US$2,080,000.
